Bundle pricing is designed to make arithmetic feel unnecessary. Doing the arithmetic takes two minutes and often changes the decision.
Price the parts separately
Add the console at its standalone price, the controllers, and the games at their current sale price, not their launch price. Bundles almost always include titles that have already discounted heavily.
The subscription trap
Many bundles include a subscription rather than owned games. Value it at the number of months you would genuinely use, which for most buyers is fewer than the included period.
When the bundle wins
- It includes a controller you would buy anyway.
- The games are current and you want all of them.
- The console itself is scarce and the bundle is the only stock.
When it loses
When the saving comes from a title you would never launch. A discount on something unwanted is not a discount, it is inventory transfer.
Bottom line: value the bundle at resale or replacement cost, not at the number printed on the box.
